At BCCI’s working committee meeting in Chennai on Friday, the members unanimously decided to convene the 85th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Chennai on November 20, postponing the process for close to two months. Conventionally, the AGM has always been held on or before September 30 every year, barring the exceptions in 2004 and 2005 in recent times.

The meeting that lasted for two hours, also took some important cricketing decisions. Ravi Shastri, appointed as the Indian team’s director during the limited-overs leg in England, will continue in his role till the World Cup.

“Mr Ravi Shastri will oversee the activities of the Indian team as a director during the West Indies home series and the Test series in Australia. He will be with the Indian team on a full-time basis during the Triangular series in Australia and also for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015,” said the BCCI release. Duncan Fletcher will see out his contract as the head coach and will be assisted by the newly-appointed support staff — Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar.

N Srinivasan attended the meeting as Tamil Nadu Cricket Association president, for the Supreme Court has barred him from discharging his duties as the BCCI head pending inquiry into the IPL betting and spot-fixing allegations.

The Justice Mudgal Committee, which is inquiring into the IPL corruption, will submit its report to the apex court by November 2 and the next hearing is scheduled in the first week of that month. “This is the reason why we decided to defer the AGM. Better to have it after things become clear,” a BCCI member said.
