Cheteshwar Pujara enters elite group after unbeaten 145

Cheteshwar Pujara not only shone with his bat in Colombo with an unbeaten 145 but also became the fourth Indian batsman to carry his bat in Tests. So far, only 49 players have managed to achive the feat in the longer format.

For India, only Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag have managed to do this.

Gavaskar was unbeaten during his knock of 127 against arch-rival Pakistan in Faisalabad in January 1983 while discarded India opener Virender Sehwag achieved the same feat against Sri Lanka, eight years ago in Galle when he smashed an unbeaten 201.

India’s ‘Wall’ Rahul Dravid remain unbeaten against England at The Oval in 2011. The solid right-hander remained unbeaten at 146.
