Kochi and Jaipur will not be on the list of cities for which bids will be entertained for the two new IPL teams. IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said that the process to find the new teams will begin next week and walk-in bids will be entertained on December 8.
The new teams will replace Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals – both serving two-year suspensions. The decision to replace the teams was taken following the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha Committee report on the spot fixing and betting.
“The IPL Governing Council decided to leave out Jaipur and Kochi as franchise venues,” Shukla said. “In all nine venues have been finalised for the formation of the two new teams,” Shukla added.

Invitation to tender documents have been finalised and will be put up for clearance before AGM tomorrow,” Shukla said.
As far as the auctioning of the players belonging to the suspended teams, Shukla said that five players from each of suspended franchises would be put up for draft, while others will be auctioned. He also said that the big IPL auction, which happens once in three years, has been postponed by a year to 2017.
